I was gonna put this up next month, but since I hit 2K pageviews and Ghost Rider comes out this Friday, I figured what the hell. This is a LONG description, only proceed if you care to waste a good 10 minutes...
Ghost Rider Femme....Now this is an idea I've had bouncing around my head since I was in Jr High. This is the kind of thing I'd put together a proposal for and pitch it to Marvel, but I have 2 huge strikes against me, 1 being that I wouldn't even know how to put a fucking proposal together, and 2 being that I know they'd never even give me the time of day since I'm a nobody. In fact what would more than likely happen is Quesada laugh in my face and tell me its stupid and then 6 months later it'll be the new flagship title from Marvel with all these big names attached to it, and if I tried to sue them, they'd have me killed or something.
Anyways, onto the concept.. Now the idea of a female Ghost Rider isn't entirely original. It was done once before in a "What If..?" comic, that I'm sure like 3 of you on Earth might remember, where Dan Ketch's sister Barbara becomes host to the Ghost Rider. In fact we also learn that that's the way it was SUPPOSE to happen, but since Blackout put her in a coma and she eventually died, Dan took her place as the host.
But that being said, I still wanted originality & freshness in this. Forging ahead to places new while still remembering the past. So she's got the flaming head, but I figured "why not shape the flame to look like long hair flowing in the wind?", and so there it is. She's also riding a more asian styled street racing bike as opposed to a chopper or hog. I know some people would hang me by the balls for that, but still, I felt the need to go in that direction simply because it had never been done before. Same goes for her chain, which rather than the typical torus shaped link chain found on bicycle locks & dog collars, I went with a motorcycle drive chain (roller chain), thats more akin to a whip, and made of glowing bright blue etheral flame. A nice fusion of old & new technologies: magic meets machinery.
And I also went where the other Ghost Rider incarnations haven't touched on with the slight exception being Vengeance, and that's the idea of making the bike a living entity. Now I don't mean that the thing talks or some cartoony shit like that, but I gave it a face, and a body of flesh & bone, with a heart of hell fire. The hell fire would jump out of the sides of the rib cage everytime she revs the engine, like fire shooting out of a "funny car" dragster. You can see a direct juxtaposition between the bike's "face" in its normal mode and its Ghost Rider mode.
If you look at the close up of her in Ghost Rider form, you'll see that I enhanced the feminine nature of the skull by removing the teeth & shaping the negative space where the upper and lower jaw bone meet to resemble a woman's full lips.
And the keyhole "tit window"....wasn't sure wether to go there or not since it would look sexy in her human form, but what about in her GR form? But I said fuck it and did it anyway. So now I guess she's experiencing her hot flashes a little early.
So what of the storyline? Well I dont want to make this description any longer than it already is, so here's just a taste....
A grizzled old man wandering about the Arizona desert on a broken down chopper, drives toward The Four Winds Bar, a biker hangout in that long stretch of nothing that exists between Pheonix & Flagstaff. Once there the old man approaches a young woman by the name of Virginia Maria Del Fuego; a drop out, a trouble maker, and an over confident moto racer who thinks she can beat any man out on the road and leave him eating exhaust fumes. The old man coaxes her into a street race challenge racing for pink slips, knowing full well that she would indulge her hubris, accept the challenge, and then ultimately lose. Upon losing to the decrepit fossil, she hands over her title, and he instructs her to go to Barbara's Bike Shop just outside Pheonix, where a new bike will be waiting for her. Before she can question what the hell he's talking about, a violent wind picks up, and the old man, his chopper, and her bike fade into a cloud of dust and dissapear. She's left alone in the parking lot, surrounded only by the dust storm. His words echoing in her mind as she feels compelled, to set off toward Barbara's. She leaves The Four Winds about to discover the true nature of who she was always meant to be... =================================
This turned out nice... The idea has a nice fresh tone. I like her design and colors (great job on the fire!). I think the breast spikes should be mirrored elsewhere on her body as well. Cool idea for the bone bike.
I prefur your thicker lines like this, but I still think you should be slowing down a little and spending some more time on line definition and detail. The more your put into the pencils, the stronger the inks will look.
Yeah, those flames look cool....

yeah, I never had to paint that much fire before.
I should be a fuckin expert now.
Breast Spikes... Glad someone noticed that.
Slow down and work on the linework?... Man, you sound like Chubbs telling me to slow down and work on my short game. Next you'll be taking me to Putt Putt and telling me to go to my "happy place".
I don't know if I can slow down though. I mean I have a lot of stuff I need to be doing right now. Actually, I feel like I've been driving in low gear for a while now, I'd like to kick things up for a change.
Well, just a suggestion... course, you wanna speed it up, maybe some more, fast detail. I do think some more work in the pre-lim stages might yiled some finer work, though. Run with it, man... looking forward to more work!

haha, LOVE that flaming boob window!! that rocks. oh man and nipple spikes, i am a strong advocate of those, nice touch. i also like how she gets the Ghost Rider "power" or whatever in the desert. or maybe that's how the original Ghost Rider went, i don't know much about him.. except that i'm psyched to see him ride up a skyscraper in the movie.
"or maybe that's how the original Ghost Rider went"
Great. now I get to talk your ear off about GR.... Ok, John Blaze sold his soul to satan to save the life of his stepfather, thats how he became Ghost Rider.
And Dan Ketch, became Ghost Rider while running from ninjas and taking refuge in a junkyard, he touched a magical gascap on an old bike which turned him into Ghost Rider. No really. Ninjas and magic gas caps, I shit you not.
I always liked Dan Ketch better, since John Blaze was before my time, so you can see several Ketch influences here, like touching the gascap to start the change, and the spikes on the costume.
Although in the movie he looks more like the Ketch version its actually Blaze. But whatever, they're both pretty much the same guy, being long lost twin brothers or whatever (long story).
Then there's Vengeance and he had a magic medallion and then did the whole soul selling shit like Blaze and that's what brought about his change.
There's also Noble Kale & the Phantom Rider stuff. Kale shit confuses me, and dont know too much about Pnatom Rider. Although Phantom Rider (basically Ghost Rider on a horse instead of a cycle) appears to be in the movie from the trailer, which would be nuts since there's already so many characters in it as it is. Maybe ts just a cameo in a flashback or something.
So for GR Femme, I went in this slightly different direction.
But yeah the mysterious shit happening in the desert is intriguing to me. I use to live on the outskirts of Pheonix when I was in 6th grade and I saw a lot of spooky shit there believe me. I remember going on a road trip to the Grand Canyon and I was pretty much spooked the entire fucking way there & back. There's so much stuff there to make you jumpy its ridiculous.
Nice place to visit, but I'd never want to live there again that's for sure.
